5 Things I Learned About The Cyberbullying Videos Part 2

Right off the bat I liked the beginning in which Jose and Taylor are both on screen shouting that cyberbullying must end now. I felt that it was a powerful start for the video and caught the attention of the audience and wished that my group could have done that too. I also like the fact that at 0:24-0:43 that they used three guys to explain what cyberbullying is and why it is bad. I wished I could have used this technique because it helped illustrate the fact that some people don't know what cyberbullying is and helped move the plot of the video.

Holiday Video

First of all I really enjoyed making the holiday video. Second it was not an easy task to do. With my partner I had to help him alot, for example, in the green screen adjustments I had to fill him in about using the correct function to eliminate the green screen. My partner helped me by helping me edit the video especially with the music. Without him in the editing process I don't think we would have finished this video.

I specifically worked on overall editing. It wasn't easy because of the timings we had in our video. I think it was pretty cool the way we edited the video because it gave it an original feel. The music was handled by Juanmanuel because he is an expert at editing music. Without his musical expertise I could not have accomplished in finishing this video.

Had we given another chance to complete this project I think we could have done a better job on our video. I could have adjusted the audio in the video better, properly cite the material we used in our video, and really just had fun making our video. It was just very dificult due to the short time frame we had to work on this project.

5 Things I Learned About The Cyberbullying Videos Part 1

Between 0:00-0:10 I really liked how this group used cell phones to introduce the topic of cyberbullying. It was very clever and I wished I could have incorporated that into my video. I also liked that in 0:35-0:41 that while Mr.Vela is talking they show a scene where he takes a troublemaker into the office to show the effects of cyberbullying and what could happen. I felt that truely emphasized a point because that can actually happen. I really liked the video time 1:06-1:22 because they show three easy steps to prevent cyberbullying while someone appears to be walking away from cyberbullying. I felt that this showed the proper closure of this video and again wished to do that with our video.

Green Screen Reflection

A green screen is a type of screen that is green. The purpose of a greeen screen is to show a special effect on a certain scene on a video. Certain things you should consider with a green screen is that the screen should not be wrinkled or waving back and forth. The subject should be filmed within the boundaries of the green screen and should NOT BE WEARING GREEN. Trying to edit out the green screen on After Effects is very tricky beacuse you need the subject to be exactly or approximately isolated from the green screen. I belive that neither Premier Pro or After Effects are easier than the other because both need special skills to master

The actual changes we made for our video is that we edited all our interviews so they would not drag on. That really shortened the video a lot actually but was probably for the better. If we had another day or two we could have done probably a better job on it than we did on the rough draft. We could have put better music and some graphics to emphasize our points a bit more.

What I discovered while working on this video was on how to add and edit sounds, how to lift and extract a clip, how to change the lighting on a specific clip (completely accidental), and how to speed up a clip or slow it down.

What I think about this project was that it took a longer time than I expected. The video itself has turned from an variety of moods into one serious mood. I personally liked our rough draft better but technically this video is a lot better than the rough draft.

First of all I would like to thank everyone in the class for their criticism and we would use your suggestions. We will fix the audio problems and fix some of our scenes and their transitions.

What I thought about our video was generally that we did a good job. The process was shaky at first with Dr. A pressuring us but it was smooth ride from there. Getting the clips for our video was a bit time consuming but we got the job done. We had a rough time picking out the songs to fit the video flow but we did our best. This video did seem a bit rough but it was rushed and we had a little bit more time we could have done a better job.

If we were to do this again we would get our footage and interviews right away and edit them accordingly. Then we would have gotten our audio while we edit our video instead of after the editing. We would then preview the video and add titles. After titles we would spell check for spelling errors and improper grammar. We would finally get the approval of Dr. A if we created the video the proper way.

Lifting/Extracting Workshop

A simple cut in the timeline means the clip you select is deleted. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline stay in place.
A ripple edit is when there is a gap in the timeline and the clips are at the ends of the gap. You do this by either lifting or extracting. When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip shift to the left.
Lifting and extracting are two ways to edit the video and the timeline at one time. To do this, you first select a clip and decide either to lift the clip from the timeline or remove it completely.
Lifting is like moving a card up from a row of cards, while extracting is like removing the card completely from the row of cards, in terms of what happens to the other clips in the timeline.
This is an example of an exctraction edit. I decided to place the two clips where I did because it seemed like the right place to put them.

Title Workshop

The first title used is an example of an overlay title, which means it overlays the title. You do this by creating a title and dragging it into the second video track and place it where it fits the clip. You might use this kind of title when you need to recognize a certain moment.
The second title is a lower third title. That title may be used the same as an overlay title except it serves a greater purpose. It is used to show the name of a subject in the screen. You do this just like an overlay title except you go templates and select lower thirds.

Reflection

The difference between an overlay and an insert edit is that an overlay does not replace the scene, it only moves the rest of the scene and an insert replaces the scene with anothe shot.
You would use an overlay when you need to extend a scene, while you’d use an insert edit when you want to shorten the scene with another shot. In this case the insert edit works better because it better suits the scene better.

This is an example of an insert edit. An insert edit places a clip in a place of the clip and replaces the scene with the length of the second clip. To do this, you drag the clip and drop it somewhere in another clip. I decided to place the 2nd clip where I did because it made complete sense in the reaction of the lady observing the other horserider.

This is an example of an overlay edit. An overlay edit places a clip in the middle of the video without recording over the other clip. To do this, you hold Ctrl and drag the desired clip in any place of the other clip. I decided to move the 2nd clip where I did because it shows who is observing the horserider.

Baler Interview

About the product:
In my opinion, our video was generally good and does show up on YouTube. One problem was the actual video size was very small when it was suppose to be normal. The title is very well presented and can legibly read the text and the credits are also legible. The clips of the video are generally good but some have low sound or background noises. Some of the people we interviwed may have been cut off a bit due to facial expressions or messing up in the clip. Some clips were a bit long and some were a bit short but the overall message of this school was pretty clear. As far as the video format, I should chosen a better format.

About the process:
My partner and I both helped each other during the making of the video. My partner helped me at getting the necessary clips we needed and by helping me edit each clip. I helped my partner by showing her the clips we gathered and some of the video's progress. One challenged we faced was the editing of the clips. With some of the clips it was easy to edit but others were very dificult to edit. The technology was not very dificult to use but did experience a couple of technical dificulties. For example we had trouble dragging the desired clip into the editing panel.

The things I want to do on a project in the future is learning how to put different audio into the video.

I feel that my behavior in class yesterday was respectable. I feel that I didn't do anything wrong and if I offended you, Dr.Achterman, I apologize. All I did yesterday was help people that needed help. Hope I didn't do anything wrong yesterday. Thank you for taking your time reading this post.

I think my final project was pretty decent for my first video upload. This video shows a SBHS student expressing his thoughts on both the school and himself.

I learned many things on how to create a video, like how to insert an in point and an end point to a clip.

With the process, my partner and I both helped each other with the project. I had dificulty getting my audio and my partner helped me with that. Using the editing program itself was pretty dificult because it was the first time I used it and the tools themselves were pretty strange to use. With my partner, I was able to figure it out.

Patience

The message of this video is to learn how to be patient.
The actions that communicate the message for this video was the child walking on the wet cement. The man at first appears to be angry but is patient and allows the child to walk through.
The element the filmaker included were the reactions of the child(suprised) and the man(frustrated).

Our Group's Discussion about Values.com

Our group like the Purse video the best. It showed the value of being honest all the time.
